Optimizing Images

All good websites optimize their images in order for them to load quick when a user downloads the website. If you log onto a website and it takes a long time to load often you will log off and try another site. If its your website you cant afford for that to happen. I use fireworks to optimize images but image ready is also a good software which is an ad-on to photoshop.

Fireworks allows you to check the loading time for the selected image.

The optimizng and align pannel allows you to select what file you wish to save your image with. GIF files are a good file types for low colour images but not reccomended for photographs and high colored images. I would recomend using PNG because it looses very little quality and compresses quite small ideal for web images of any kind.

Optimize and align

You can preview and compare in fireworks between different file types and use sliders to adjust the quality which will reduce the size. This can be found from the FILE: EXPORT WIZARD.
