Flash Timeline Basics

Keyframes

A keyframe is something which can change a sequence of events to an object or symbol in the timeline. In animation an old technique is stop frame. This where there could be a picture on one frame and then a slightly different version on the next frame this would continue until the animation was complete. when the animation was played back at a fast frame rate it would give a simple cartoon animation.

Frames

Frames are just basically a copy of the keyframe. So if you wanted to have a certain keyframe play longer you could add more frames.

Motion Tweening

Motion tweening is a way to create an animation without the need of adding lots of keyframes yourself. Flash allows the user to create motion tweening to graphics and shapes. This means its very quick and easy to create simple flash animations.
