When you attempt to cut more advanced images you will notice that the magic wand will pick up lots more and will look quite crazy. Here i will show you some more advanced techniques of getting parts of the image you want.
Begining again with the magic wand tool and i will usually begin at a tolerance of 10 and reduce it if i need to do something more intricate.
This picture shows the magic wand that has been applied to the picture but at the top right where there's is brick wall it is much more intricate.

With problems like this the easiest thing to do is use a paint of mask. The paint on mask is quite straight forward, simply paint the mask where you want it applied, add or minus.

You can invert the mask which will show you the mask on the object.

If you look close at the edges of the mask you will see that the masked edge will be rough and jagged. There are two tools now that can be applied to fix the edges.
Smoothing Mask
From the masking menu go to " Mask Outline". There will be an option for smoothing. This will smooth the mask. The problem with this is that it will move the mask in or out depending on your mask being on plus or minus. You can from there fill in the parts back with the magic wand.
Feathering
This is a really good tool can make the jagged edges disappear. What feathering does is that it will depending on how many pixels you select will make a linear effect to the edges. The inside would be 0% transparency where the very outside would be at a 95% transparency.
This is the image that i have used after feathered.

Once you have the part masked you can now either cut the image, fill the background, or paste the selected into an image.
You will need to make sure that the mask is selected on the object and not the background. Go to the page fill and should see an example like mine. I have selected black but you choose whatever color you want.

Finished Picture
Once you have filled the background you may find that you will have to make some tweaking which is best with the paint brush set at 30% transparency.
